Today.....nags head sea oats

As snow and ice once again fall outside my studio window, I paint a warm summer day spent in one of my very favorite places.

Whitehouse cove

This afternoon, my sweet son says to me, "mom, wanna go with me to whitehouse cove? You can bring your paints" so I dropped everything and off we went. He practiced his cast net throwing and I painted this.....

Buckroe

We love Buckroe beach!
We've been taking our boys there since they were little, always the same spot.
And here it is.....

Crozet

Painted from a photo taken during a recent weekend escape to the blue ridge mountains....with Charlottesville as your home base, you've got the best of everything! Just a few miles outside of town is crozet. Streams and rolling farmland. Vineyards and sweeping views of blue ridge. Heaven.

Snail sanctuary

Took my son fishing at a spot we call snail sanctuary. He caught a giant skate (very exciting) and I did a little watercolor.

ENJOYING PEARS

I've been setting up little still life scenes in the back yard and getting my paint on outside now that the weather is cooperating. These are done in oils with a limited Pallet of red blue yellow and white.  Obviously I'm totally in love with this blue jar!

hope valley tumbler quilt

52x60 from the thimble blossoms double dip pattern of the tumbler quilt. i customized the size for how ever many tumblers i had the patients to cut out! i machine quilted it in an allover meander pattern.
you ever get a bundle of fabulous new fabric (like denyse schmidt's hope valley!) and cant wait to cut into it cause you just know youve found the perfect pattern for it? well, thats what i did once upon a time, then later thought, maybe not the best idea. so those tumbler blocks sat there, mocking me, forever, and this week i dealt with them...
and im so relieved...i love this quilt! how could you not? its hope valley...love!

someone else loves it too <3 br="br" hearts="hearts" how="how" is="is" make="make" that="that" they="they" those="those">
